We are excited to announce the launch of updated product names, logos, and headers within our user interfaces as part of the CivicPlus® Solution Rebranding initiative. Auto Populate Your Widget

Who can use this feature?

System Administrator | Owner | Publisher | Author

 

When you add assets or content widgets to your page, you have the option to select Automatically select relevant content. When you select that option, your widget will automatically be populated with system-determined related content. Manual options such as reordering, drag-and-drop, add, and remove are not available. You may filter or sort with widget options.

 

Important Note

  • The Automatically select relevant content toggle will not appear as an option for the Single Image widget format.

New UI Instructions

  1. Click Try New UIThe button labeled Try New UI in the top-right corner of the page.
  2. Navigate to your desired page
  3. Click ContentThe content button located in the vertical menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
  4. Drag and drop the content onto your page or select an existing widget The chosen content dragged and dropped on the page.
  5. Check the Automatically select relevant content box The checkbox toggle labeled Automatically select relevant content.
  6. Configure Auto-Populate settings The dropdown fields that appear when Automatically select relevant content is checked.
    • Content Types: Add content types for the system to pull assets from
    • Categories: Add categories for the system to pull assets from
    • Tags: Type the name of a tag to add an existing tag, or type the desired name of a tag and press Enter to create a new one
    • Number of Items Shown: Choose how many items to show within the widget
    • View All: Click to include a View All link below the items
      • Note This displays a list of all items matching the widget's content types, categories, and tags. The link will only appear if more items are available to view.
    • Sorting: Choose to list the items in ascending or descending alphabetical order, oldest first, or newest first
      • Note: Alphabetical sorting is only available when one content type is selected
  7. Select Save or PublishThe floppy disk save icon, and the upward pointing arrow publish icon.

Old UI Instructions

  1. Navigate to your desired page
  2. Ensure that Live Edit Is OnThe pencil icon in the top-left of the page, to the right of the logo and gear icon.
  3. Drag-and-drop assets to your page The selected content dragged and dropped onto the page.
  4. Select a Widget FormatThe dropdown labeled Widget Format.
    • Calendar: Display a calendar
    • Event: Show as events
    • Link List: Present links, no images
    • Single Image: Will not work with Automatically select relevant content
    • Slideshow: Display images as a slideshow
    • Stacked: Stack assets on top of each other
  5. Select Automatically select relevant contentThe toggle box labeled Automatically select relevant content.
  6. Scroll through and configure more Auto-Populate options The dropdown fields that appear after checking the Automatically select relevant content box.
    • Widget Items: Open the actions drop-down to Modify or Preview the asset
    • Content Types: Add content types for the system to pull assets from
    • Categories: Add categories for the system to pull assets from
    • Tags: Add tags
    • Number of Items Shown: Choose how many items to show within the widget
    • View All: Click to include a View All link below the items
      • Note: This displays a list of all items matching the widget's content types, categories, and tags. The link will only appear if more items are available to view.
    • Sorting: Choose to list the items in ascending or descending alphabetical order, ascending or descending date, most relevant, oldest first, or newest first
      • Note: The alphabetical options will not appear if more than one Content Type is selected
    • Limit Descriptions: Limit the size of descriptions
    • See More: Include a See More link below the item
    • Customize Text: Change the Seem More link text
  7. Configure the rest of the widget options
  8. Click Save or Save as Copy at the top of the page to save changes The buttons in the top-right labeled Save and Save As Copy below the Try New UI button.
