A: Here is the general notice sent to all system admins within CivicEngage Evolve.
Q: Can you outline the process of getting access?
A: CivicPlus is in the process of adding the Google Analytics tracking codes on all sites. Data will begin tracking on or before Dec 30, 2021. At that time, we will begin granting access to those who have filled out the waiver and user access form.
Q: Will CivicPlus be assigning a Username & Password to new users of Google Analytics?
A: Access is granted based on an email address provided on the Waiver bad user Access Form, you will control the username and password associated with your Google account.
Q: What level of access will we be given?
A: All users will be given Analyst (formerly Collaborate) access permissions.
Q: Can we add more than one user?
A: At this time, we are allowing one user to be added to each account. We will continue to evaluate the need for more users to be added to an account. To help get others the information they may need, reports can be set up to be automatically delivered via email to other recipients.
Q: How can you associate the new account with a current Google Analytics account?
A: If the same email address is used to set up access for both, that user can then easily switch back and forth between accounts.
Q: Are we able to provide our own Google Analytics account information, or do we have to use one set up by CP?
A: If you currently use Google Analytics, you will not be affected. If you would like to set up your own Google Analytics account, you can do that as well and contact support to put that tracking code on your site.
Q: I already have a Google account set up for accessing our current Google Analytics. Does it make sense to use this email for our CivicPlus Google analytics?
A: Yes, it does make sense to use this same email. It would allow you to toggle back and forth between the two accounts without having to log in with a separate account to each.
Q: Is Google analytics standard as a CivicPlus customer, or is it an additional cost to access?
A: It is included with your CivicEngage Evolve website.
Q: Pageview vs unique pageviews
A: A pageview is defined as a view of a page on your site that is being tracked by the Analytics tracking code. If a user clicks reload after reaching the page, this is counted as an additional pageview. If a user navigates to a different page and then returns to the original page, a second pageview is recorded as well.
A unique pageview, as seen in the Content Overview report, aggregates pageviews that are generated by the same user during the same session. A unique pageview represents the number of sessions during which that page was viewed one or more times.
Q: Will search terms be tracked?
A: Yes.
Q: Can we track document downloads?
A: Yes, your Google Analytics account is set up to track document downloads.
Q: How can we filter internal traffic?
A: There is a setting to exclude certain IP addresses. You would need to contact CivicPlus Technical Support to have that setup.
Q: When you create new pages will the tracking automatically be added?
A: When creating new pages, they will automatically be tracked as part of your site. If you have custom reports set up for specific sections or departments on your site(formerly known as segments), you may need to add them to that group.
Q: Will you import our Piwik data?
A: We will not be able to import any usable data from Piwik to Google Analytics as the tracking is vastly different. Please export any data from Piwik that you would like to retain after 2022.
Q: How do we export our Piwik data?
A: You can view the Help Center article for step-by-step on how to create reports.
Q: How long will we have access to our historical Piwik data?
A: Historical Piwik data will be accessible until 12/31/2022.
Q: What if we currently use our own Google Analytics, will CivicPlus be able to see that data?
A: No, unless you have granted your account manager access to view, we do not have access to your accounts.
